  • Peak District walks

Living in Sheffield, the Peak District is our closest stomping ground for going for a walk. From time to time I'll share some info here on our Peak District walks / hikes.

Knowing wild camping while backpacking / wild camping in the Peak District is frowned on by landowners in the area (and strictly wild camping is illegal too) we've not tried that yet in the Peak district. So far all our camping and backpacking trips have been with a campsite on the planned route.

Given the 'shady' nature of wild camping in the Peak District, I won't be sharing routes / locations of any we do!

  • West valley top above Ladybower, Derwent and Howden reservoirs

West valley top above Ladybower, Derwent and Howden reservoirs
    Approx 19Km
Navigation:Easy, if comfortable with map and compass
Terrain: Mostly tracks, at least that was the plan, didn't quite work out that way!

We hadn't been doing many walks in the Peak District for a while, so it was time to put that right. A minor navigation issue saw us climbing the side of a valley the hard way over rough terrain. We also "enjoyed" plenty of boggy wetness!
